PIXs are scientific and technical projects designed to help students progress over the years. The objective of PIX1, in the first year of the integrated preparatory program, is to build an object according to a set of specifications.
Creating an aero-wheeled robot as a team, based on a set of specifications including a number of constraints, was the annual challenge for the class of 2029!
Creating a Hexapod robot to common specifications, including a percentage of recycled materials, was the project of the engineering students in the class of 2028.
The students of class 2027 were asked to create an “ornithopter” based on precise specifications.
Students from the class of 2026 were asked to create an “aerorouleur” on the theme of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
77 groups, 77 wind turbines built in the first year of integrated prep school, using recycled materials and following strict specifications: this is the PIX1 of the class of 2025!
The challenge of the 2018-2019 PIX1 project was to design a suspended monorail powered by an electric motor manufactured by the PIX1 project team during semester 1.
The engineering students in the class of 2022 worked as a team to develop a bipedal mechanical robot meeting precise specifications.
Using materials such as cardboard and wood, and following draconian specifications, Year 1 students had to juggle the constraints of lightness, strength and space throughout the year, and prove their ingenuity to build a bridge that could be dismantled, made portable and aesthetically pleasing.
The objective of the PIX1 project by ESILV’s class of 2020 engineering students was to create an emergency automaton with several constraints such as three supports on the ground, no electronics except for an imposed motor, use of 80% recycled or recyclable materials for construction, etc.
The engineering students had to build a wind turbine using recycled materials.
